Stephen P. Briggs (Steve), Senior Vice President, Agronomy and Corporate Marketing
Steve Briggs is Senior Vice President, Agronomy and Corporate Marketing for Wheat Growers. Steve joined Wheat Growers in 2010.
Steve’s career began as an Extension Entomologist at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. From there he joined American Cyanamid Company in Des Moines, Iowa. Steve held many positions within AmCy including working in the Technical Service Group, in Sales Management, and in Marketing Product Management. In 1996, he was appointed Vice President of Technical Service – North America and in 1998 – was named Vice President and General Manager of American Cyanamid’s Specialty Products Department concentrating in non-crop businesses such as pest control, industrial vegetation management and forestry.
In 2000, upon the sale of American Cyanamid to BASF, he spent time at the BASF subsidiary, MicroFlo Company in Memphis, Tennessee. He rejoined BASF in Raleigh, North Carolina, in 2003 as Director of BASF Specialty Products Department until 2007. Steve then spent time with a start-up company in Melbourne, Florida, and also served as Vice President of Sales for Cheminova, a generic pesticide manufacturer.
He has served as Chairman of RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment), an Industry Pesticide Association, and has also served on the board of ARA (Ag Retailers Association) and as en ex-officio member of the Strategic Outlook Committee for Crop Life America.
Steve graduated from High School in Tecumseh, Michigan, but got his taste of agriculture while living in Shreveport, Louisiana, working as a cotton crop scout. Steve received his B.S. from Michigan Tech University in Forest Entomology and his Masters Degree from Virginia Tech in Field Crop Entomology. Steve and his wife, Vicki, have two daughters who both reside in Raleigh, North Carolina. If time ever permits, he loves to hunt, fish and play golf.
