Wheat Growers’ Safety Team members Josh Pechacek and Brent Hovland took Wheat Growers’ positive safety culture message to high school students in Miller and Highmore recently. The Wheat Growers Community Safety Outreach Program focuses on awareness of the dangers of grain engulfment, entanglement and grain dust explosion. Students and staff at both schools were impressed with Josh and Brent’s presentations and demonstrations that highlighted the dangers involved in working around grain bins and grain elevators.
“Wheat Growers’ positive safety culture is extending to our communities through these programs,” Bill Spreeman, Vice President of Safety and Environmental Affairs, said. “The awareness raised in these classes will definitely have a ripple effect in the surrounding communities, hopefully leading to a more proactive approach to safety. It’s great to see our folks investing their time and passion about safety in their communities and people.”
In fact, Josh and Brent’s presentation at Miller was so successful, they’ve been asked back to present to a second class. And the ag instructor at Highmore was also very appreciative and offered his chapter’s help in any future Wheat Growers farm safety promotions.
Thanks to the entire staff at Highmore for their hard work and dedication.
