Winter wheat seed is in good supply today, but that could change by mid-September. Many growers harvested a phenomenal winter wheat crop with good quality this past season. That factored in with an increase of available acres due to earlier chopping and grain harvest sets many areas up for an increase in winter wheat planting this fall. I expect supply to remain good short term, but depending on the grain market and economics it could become quite tight by planting time. Also don't forget to check herbicide rotational restrictions when making your decision where or if to plant winter wheat this Fall.
