Wheat Growers Announces Promotion of Bill Spreeman

(Aberdeen, SD) --- Wheat Growers, one of the largest locally-owned farmer’s cooperatives in the U.S., announces the promotion of Bill Spreeman to Vice President of Safety, Environmental and Regulatory Affairs. Spreeman will be responsible for Wheat Growers safety and environmental initiatives and compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulatory requirements.

“Bill has had a tremendous impact here at Wheat Growers,” Dale Locken, Wheat Growers Chief Executive Officer, said. “He has helped engender a positive safety culture throughout our organization and brought a sense of pride and accomplishment to our Safety Team. Safety continues to be a top priority for Wheat Growers, and Bill is providing the leadership to continue to meet and exceed our goals.”

Beginning in 2010, Spreeman led the effort to introduce BASE: Behaviors Achieving Safety Excellence to Wheat Growers. BASE is a plan to enlist the eyes and ears of every Wheat Growers employee to observe how they work and make suggestions on ways to improve safety. He has also trained designated area safety specialists to help carry safety initiatives throughout Wheat Growers' trade territory. These safety specialists lead continuing education and safety training events across the entire organization, and to community first responders, to identify safety strengths and areas for improvement.
